KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 29): The ringgit closed higher against the US dollar today as investors reduced their holdings in the greenback ahead of the weekend, dealers said.
At 5 pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.2215/2245 to the dollar from yesterday's 3.2314/2340.
A dealer said the ringgit's appreciation came as regional peers gained on short-covering before the weekend.
The ringgit also closed higher against other major currencies.
The local unit appreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.5678/5703 from 2.5745/5771 on Thursday and firmed against the yen at 3.1469/1514 from 3.1627/1662 previously.
It strengthened against the British pound at 5.2604/2663 from 5.2659/2717 yesterday and improved against the euro at 4.3832/3885 from 4.3961/4008.
