Joint acquisition of Uni.Asia Life complete

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 2): Prudential Financial, Inc (PFI) and Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) have completed the joint acquisition of Uni.Asia Life Assurance Bhd (UAL) from Uni.Asia Capital Sdn Bhd.
The two companies paid RM518 million to acquire 100 per cent stake in UAL.
After the deal, the UAL is set to develop customised solutions for BSN's customers and continue to sell its products through Pos Malaysia Bhd's 1,000 retail outlets nationwide, PFI and BSN said in a joint statement today.
Jan van den Berg, President of PFI Asia Region (excluding Japan), said: “We are pleased to enter Malaysia via BSN, one of Malaysia’s premier savings banks with a strong bancassurance distribution channel nationwide, as our partner."
