KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 21): Trading of Affin Holdings Bhd shares will be suspended from 9am to 5pm tomorrow (January 22).

Affin said in a statement on the stock exchange's website that the trading suspension is in conjunction with an announcement on Affin's planned acquisition of Hwang-DBS (M) Bhd's financial-services businesses.

"We refer to the announcements dated 15 April 2013, 4 September 2013 and 10 January 2014 in relation to the proposed acquisition.

"On behalf of the board of Affin, Affin Investment Bank Bhd wishes to announce that Affin has requested Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd for a suspension of trading of the securities of Affin from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on 22 January 2014 pending the release of a material announcement," Affin said.

Affin had in September last year signed an exclusivity agreement with Hwang-DBS (M). This was for Affin's proposed acquisition of 100% interest in HwangDBS Investment Bank Bhd and HDM Futures Sdn Bhd, 70% stake in Hwang Investment Management Bhd and 49% interest in Asian Islamic Investment Management Sdn Bhd.

The Finance Minister and Securities Commission had on January 10, 2014 approved the proposed acquisition and merger of HwangDBS Investment  with Affin Investment.
