KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 20) Guinness Anchor Bhd (GAB) reported flat net profit of RM66.08 million for the second quarter ended 31st December 2013 versus RM66.16 million in similar quarter a year ago
The company attributes the dip in profit to higher commercial spending, which included major marketing initiatives for CIMB’s Classic golf tournament and Arthur’s Day concert.
Revenue for the quarter rose to RM499.37 million from RM429.44 million a year ago
Net profit for the 6 months slipped 5.92% to RM115.71 million from RM122.99 million in quarter a year ago
Cumulative revenue for the 6 months rose to RM825.17 million from RM821.73 million a year ago.
The company declared a dividend of 20 sen a share.
“The beer industry has been challenging due to lacklustre domestic consumption. Consumers have been cautious in their spending due to uncertainties and the rise in living cost” said Hans Essaadi, Managing Director at GAB.
“Despite the tough market environment ahead, we will still continue to focus on innovation and invest in brand-building activities to achieve the business plan for FY2014,” said Hans.
