KUALA LUMPUR (April 10): Maybank Head of Group Community Financial Services (CFS) and Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Singapore, Datuk Lim Hong Tat, has been named "Retail Banker of the Year 2014", by The Asian Banker.

Lim, who has been with Maybank Group since 1981, is the first Malaysian banker to have won the prestigious award.

In a statement today, Lim said that the award is a tribute to all Maybankers, especially those from CFS.

"People in the CFS work together as a strong team, to transform Maybank to be the foremost Retail Financial Service provider in Malaysia by 2015," he added.

As the Head of CFS, Lim is responsible for leading and driving consumer, retail SME, commercial banking and community banking distribution network across the region.

In a statement today, Lim said that the award is a tribute to all Maybankers, especially those from CFS.

"People in CFS work together as a strong team to transform Maybank to be the foremost Retail Financial Service provider in Malaysia by 2015," he
added.

The Retail Banker Award is the highest award given to the most accomplished leader in the retail banking industry, operating in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions.

Maybank also scored a hattrick in winning the Best Retail Bank Malaysia Country Award and Best Automobile Lending Business Award 2014, for the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions, from The Asian Banker. 

Maybank currently has 1,000 branches, serving more than 16 million customers, with combined deposits and lending book of over US$144 billion across the region. 

The Asian Banker is a leading provider of strategic business intelligence for the financial services community, and also publishes The Asian Banker Journal.
