KUALA LUMPUR: Medini Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MIMSB), the master developer of Medini Iskandar Malaysia in Johor, has signed its first tenancy agreement with information and communications technology solutions provider Huawei for Medini 6, its first purpose-built office in Medini Iskandar.

Huawei is expected to commence operations from its new office in the second quarter of this year.

“Attracting a company of Huawei’s stature was essential in defining the type of companies we are seeking to attract in Medini,” said MIMSB chief executive officer Khairil Anwar Ahmad (pic) in a statement yesterday.

“Having essential services like a network operations centre will be the catalyst to position Medini as a vibrant, 24-7 business services hub,” he said.

Construction of the recently completed Medini 6 began in early 2013 and it has a total gross floor area (GFA) of 80,000 sq ft of office space, comprising four two-storey blocks and a cafeteria.

According to MIMSB, another office building, known as Plot B7, which is adjacent to Medini 6, is currently being developed.

“This future office building will be larger than Medini 6, with total GFA of 140,000 sq ft. It will take about 15 months to be ready for occupancy,” said Khairil.
