KUALA LUMPUR (April 23): The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) Futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives, closed lower today, in line with the cash market.

Phillip Futures Sdn Bhd Dealer, Tan Sek Wei, said the market ended almost flat, in tandem with the mixed Asian markets performance, as investors digested the China HSBC Purchasing Managers' Index, which showed a slight improvement.

"It came in at 48.3, above March’s reading of 48, however, it is still in contraction for a fourth straight month," he told Bernama.

April 2014 fell 4.5 points to 1,862.5 points, May 2014 depreciated 4.0 points to 1,860.5 points, June 2014 lost 1.5 points to 1,859 points, and
September erased 2.5 points to 1,850 points.

Turnover increased to 5,976 lots, from yesterday's 5,666 lots, while open interest widened to 35,287 contracts, from 33,992 contracts recorded on Tuesday.

The benchmark index rose 0.93 of-a-point to 1,867.35, after hovering between 1,864.91 points and 1,870.89 points, throughout the day.
