Perak police detain 41 people in Perak over Bersih assembly
IPOH: Perak Police have detained 41 people in several districts in the state from last Friday on suspicion of involvement in the illegal assembly planned for Saturday.
Perak Police chief Datuk Skukri Dahalan said among those detained were several opposition representatives, individuals and a religious teacher.
"They were held for gathering and producing and distributing t-shirts and leaflets on the illegal assembly," he told a news conference after the Perak
police's monthly gathering on Thursday, July 7.
He said they were detained in Sungai Siput, Kuala Kangsar, Batu Gajah and Ipoh and had been freed on police bail.
He reminded members of the public not to get involved in the illegal assembly, saying police would not tolerate those who were adamant on going ahead
with the activity.
