KUALA LUMPUR (July 21): Melati Ehsan Holdings Bhd's net profit soared 509% to RM6.64 million in the third quarter ended May 31, 2014 (3QFY14) from RM1.09 million a year earlier. The builder and property developer's profit had risen on higher revenue and lower finance cost during the quarter.
In a statement to the exchange today, Melati Ehsan said revenue climbed to RM108.16 million from RM55.16 million.
Cumulative nine-month (9MFY14) net profit rose to RM16.92 million from RM6.02 million a year earlier. Revenue was higher at RM252.67 million versus RM145.38 million.
"The increased in profit of the group in the current financial period (9MFY14) as compared to the preceding year corresponding period was due mainly to higher operating revenue contributed from the construction, trading and property development activities.
"The board of directors is optimistic about the group’s ability to continue to achieve satisfactory performance for the financial year ending 31 August 2014," Melati Ehsan said.
