KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 12): The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has emerged as a substantial shareholder in Star Publications (M) Bhd, after its stake in the media company rose to 5%.

In a filling with Bursa Malaysia, Star Publications said EPF’s stake had increased to 36.938 million shares, after the fund bought an additional 71,700 shares on Aug 07.

However, it did not state the price at which the shares were purchased.

Star Publications is one of the leading newspaper publishers in Malaysia.

Star Publication's shares price closed at RM2.64 today, up 1 sen or 0.38% from yesterday, with over 99,000 units traded.
