KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 24): The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has ceased to be a substantial shareholder of Coastal Contracts Bhd, barely two months after it emerged as a substantial shareholder of the firm.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the ship builder said EPF had disposed 120,000 shares on the open market last Thursday (Sept 18).

"The disposal of shares were by EPF FD BD (AM INV)," the filing said.

The ship builder said it received the notice of cessation dated Sept 19, today.

Following the disposal, EPF still holds a total of 26.51 million shares in the firm.

EPF emerged as a major shareholder in Coastal Contracts, after buying 1.67 million shares in the firm on Aug 05. Following the acquisition, EPF raised its stake in the company to about 5.14% or 27.31 million shares.

According to Bloomberg, Coastal Contracts has a market capitalisation of RM2,449.56 million.

Shares of Coastal Contracts closed at RM4.63, up 1 sen or 0.22%, with 639,100 units changed hands.
