Malaysia inflation may have peaked in June
Malaysia’s inflation rate may have peaked at 3.8 per cent in June driven by higher electricity and gas prices, the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research said in a report today.
This is likely to spur the central bank to raise interest rates another 25 basis points this year from the current overnight rate of 3 per cent, it said.
Benchmark rates may rise a further 25 basis points to 3.5 per cent next year, according to the report. -- Bloomberg
