KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 5): XOX Bhd ([You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Valuation: 0.20, Fundamental: 1.40), whose share price surged 38.89% to close at a 1½-year high of 12.5 sen today, was issued an unusual market activity query by Bursa ( Valuation: 2.10, Fundamental: 2.30) Malaysia.

The stock closed at 9 sen last Friday, with some 9.3 million shares changing hands.

Trading volume of the mobile virtual network operator, which started offering its services to the public in 2005, jumped more than seven times to 69.97 million shares today, making it the second most actively traded stock across the bourse.

At 12.5 sen, it has a market capitalisation of RM36.52 million. The sudden price rally has added some 22.22% or RM6.64 million to its market value from last Friday's of RM29.88 million.

In a filing on XOX's website today, Bursa had requested XOX to disclose any corporate development, rumour or report or any other possible explanation that could contribute to the surge in share price and volume.

The regulator also advised investors to take note of the company's reply which will be posted on Bursa Malaysia's website under company announcements.

For the fourth quarter ended June 30, 2015 (4QFY15), XOX posted a 48.84% decline in net profit at RM659,000 from RM1.29 million a year earlier due to intensive marketing and branding programmes to address various challenges including compounding effects from the goods and services tax implementation and competition intensity.

Revenue for the quarter rose 42.68% to RM27.92 million from RM19.57 million in 4QFY14, resulting from the contribution from continued efforts on products branding, subscribers' retention and quality subscriber acquisition through various business strategies that are in place.
