KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 12): CIMB IB Research ([You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Valuation: 1.65, Fundamental: 0.55) has maintained its “Overweight” rating on the semiconductor sector and said it had organised a semiconductor companies visit of Aemulus Holdings Bhd ( Valuation: N/A, Fundamental: N/A), Globetronics Technology Bhd ( Valuation: 1.70, Fundamental: 3.00) and Inari-Amertron Bhd ( Valuation: 1.50, Fundamental: 3.00) in Penang for five institutional clients recently.
In a note Jan 11, the research house said the industry demand in 1Q16 is expected to remain soft, partly due to sluggish sales as a result of the strengthening US dollar and seasonal weakness.
“Nevertheless, most companies are optimistic about stronger earnings growth in 2016, led by demand recovery on the back of new flagship smartphone launches.
“Maintain Overweight on the sector, with Inari-Amertron as our top pick,” it said.
