Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained higher mid-morning led by gains in heavyweights including Genting, KL Kepong
and MISC, dealers said.

At 10.50am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 0.47 of a point at 1,563.06 after opening 1.04 points higher at 1,563.63.

The overall market breath was mixed with losers thumping gainers 237 to 203 while 263 other counters remaining unchanged. Turnover stood at 445.25 million shares worth RM914.72 million.

A dealer said trading was likely to remain cautious amid uncertainty over the resolution of sovereign debt problems in the United States and Europe.


On Bursa Malaysia, the Finance Index increased 3.42 points to 14,722.10, the Plantation Index gained 10.52 points to 7,701.68 and the Industrial Index was 11 points higher at 2,861.54.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia Emas Index rose 6.52 points to 10,717.54, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Mid 70 Index expanded 18.98 points to 11,659.85 and the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Ace Index added 20.38 points to 4,135.13.

Newly-listed oil and gas service provider, Bumi Armada, was among the actives, gaining 90 sen to RM3.93, over its initial public offering price of RM3.03, Ingenuity Solutions rose two sen to 11.5 sen while Ariantec Global declined half-a-sen to 3.5 sen.

Among heavyweights, Maybank slipped two sen to RM8.82 while both CIMB and Petronas Chemicals were both unchanged at RM8.53 and RM7.10, respectively. -- Bernama
