McDonald’s profit up on Europe, US sales
LOS ANGELES: McDonald’s Corp reported quarterly profit that
topped analysts’ expectations on strength in the Europe and the US, and
shares rose more than 2 per cent.
For the second quarter, sales at established restaurants were
up 4.5 per cent in the US, up 5.9 per cent in Europe and up 5.2 per
cent in its Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa unit.
The hamburger chain yesterday said net income rose to US$1.41
billion (RM,4.07 billion) compared with US$1.23 billion (RM3.55
billion) a year earlier.
Results from the latest quarter exceeded analysts’ average profit view of US$1.28 (RM3.70) per share.
Revenue rose to US$6.91 billion (RM19.97 billion) from US$5.95 billion (RM17.20 billion) a year earlier. — Reuters
