Europe Roundup: Marts weaken
LONDON: Europe's main stock markets weakened yesterday, as banks were hit by poor results from Spanish giant Santander, while the US appeared on course for a potentially calamitous debt default.
London's FTSE 100 index of top shares dropped 0.08 percent to 5,925.03 points in late morning deals, Frankfurt's DAX 30 declined 0.17 per cent to 7,337.72 points and in Paris the CAC 40 index shed 0.49 per cent to 3,769.82.
The Stoxx 50 index of leading eurozone companies lost 0.61 per cent to 2,723.10 points.
Europe's banks were under selling pressure also after US giant Goldman Sachs downgraded the sector. - AFP
