Europe Roundup: One-week low
LONDON: European stocks fell for a fourth straight session to hit a one-week low yesterday as disappointing earnings and cautious comments from major European companies raised concerns about corporate profits.
London's FTSE 100 index dropped 0.72 per cent to 5,813.30 points in late morning deals, Frankfurt's DAX 30 slumped 1.66 per cent to 7,131.12 and in Paris the CAC 40 index shed 1.28 per cent to 3,685.31.
The FTSEurofirst 300 index of top European shares dropped 0.7 per cent to 1,080.66 points.
"Washington failing to push the debt ceiling higher continues to weigh on the market today (Thursday) despite a raft of positive corporate numbers," said Manoj Ladwa, senior trader at ETX Capital. - Agencies
