TDM Q2 profit jumps to RM44.1m

KUALA LUMPUR: TDM Bhd's pre-tax profit rose by 162 per cent to RM44.1 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2011 from RM16.9 million in the same quarter last year.
Its revenue was 49 per cent higher at RM127 million compared to RM85.1 million previously.
For the six-month period ended June 30, 2011, TDM's pre-tax profit jumped 88 per cent to RM82.3 million from RM43.7 million in the same period last year, while revenue surged 33 per cent to RM232.8 million from RM174.9 million.
In a statement today, TDM chief executive officer Badrul Hisham Mahari said the increase in profit, was contributed by the record profits achieved by all divisions within the group.
The plantation business reported a 92 per cent increase in pre-tax profit for the first six months period, amid higher crude palm oil production and strong prices.
The healthcare business achieved the best ever first half results with revenue and profit having increased by 13 per cent and seven per cent respectively.
The poultry business recorded a pre-tax profit of RM1.2 million from improved bird production and prices. - Bernama
