KL shares open higher on technical rebound
Share prices were higher on Bursa Malaysia, in early, on a technical rebound, as investors took the cue from overnight gains on Wall Street, dealers said.
They said the announcement of new investments to take place in the East Coast by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak this morning also aided the recovery amid global economic uncertainties.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gained 9.22 points or 0.624 per cent to 1,485.68 after 42 minutes of trading.
Earlier, the benchmark index opened 7.68 points higher at 1,484.14 compared with yesterday's close of 1,476.46.
The Finance Index surged 71.37 points to 14,090.3, the Plantation Index improved 37.22 points to 7,223.54 and the Industrial Index increased 10.61 points to 2,719.56.
The FBM Emas Index was 60.391 points higher at 10,158.53, the FBM Ace Index rose 18.43 points to 3,775.2, the FBMT 100 Index advanced 58.319 points to 9,977.02 and the FBM70 Index advanced 50.17 points to 11,066.78.
Gainers triumphed losers 340 to 78 while 175 counters were unchanged, 906 untraded and 56 others suspended. Turnover stood at 222.24 million shares worth RM241.358 million.
Leading active counters were Dutaland which rose 1.5 sen to 62 sen, followed by Takaso Resources-Ordinary rights which eased 6.5 sen to 2.5 sen and Dutaland Bhd-WA which perked one sen to 14.5 sen.
Heavyweights, Maybank rose four sen to RM8.50, CIMB added 10 sen to RM8.13, Sime Darby added one sen to RM8.81 and Petronas Chemicals gained 14 sen to RM6.29. -- Bernama
