Extol MSC back in the black in Q3

Extol MSC Bhd, a ACE-market listed company, has achieved a pre-tax profit of RM72,000 for the third quarter ended June 30, 2011 compared with a loss of RM127,000 chalked up in the previous corresponding period.

Revenue, however, dropped to RM1.987 million, during the period under review from RM3.684 million, registered previously.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, Extol said despite the reduction in revenue, group pre-tax profit was better mainly due to improved demand for the company's proprietary solutions which carried a higher margin.

For the nine-months period, Extol recorded a revenue of approximately RM5.125 million, down approximately 34.29 per cent, from the corresponding period's revenue of RM7.8 million.

"Moving forward and barring any adverse circumstances, the group expects to ride through the challenging operating environment with an optimistic outlook based on our competency.

"Having said this, the group will remain vigilant and adopt a cautious approach in ensuring the business operations are effective and efficient," the company said. -- Bernama
