Tenaga may not maintain dividend payouts
Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Malaysia’s biggest power producer, may not be able to maintain its dividend payments this fiscal year due to higher fuel costs, it said in an exchange filing today.
The Kuala Lumpur-company has incurred an additional RM400 million a month expense to buy alternative fuels for its power stations due to a shortfall in gas supply, it said. This has negatively impacted cash flow, Tenaga said.
The statement confirmed comments earlier made by Chief Executive Officer Che Khalib Noh to the Star newspaper. -- Bloomberg
