Prasarana gets new chairman
The former director-general of the Public Services Department (PSD), Tan Sri Ismail Adam, has been appointed the non–executive chairman of Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd.
In a statement today, Prasarana said he will take over from Tan Sri
Izzuddin Dali who retired from the post, effective Thursday.
Ismail currently holds the post of advisor to Hay Group Sdn Bhd and sits as
the independent non-executive director of Bank Islam Holdings Bhd as well a
member of the Royal Court of Selangor.
Ismail expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun
Razak, for his confidence in him and giving the opportunity to contribute
towards further improving the country’s public transportation system.
"Public transportation has been identified as one of the key areas for
development by the government and personally, I am very impressed with the
efforts that Prasarana had made in transforming the public transportation
system, especially for the Klang Valley and Penang," he said.
Ismail, 61, served the government for over 38 years. He held various senior
positions, including that of chief administration officer of the Department of
Statistics, director-general of the National Productivity Corporation, and
secretary general to the Ministry of Health.
