Malaysia firms bag RM755m sales in Indonesia
A Malaysian trade delegation to Jakarta,
Indonesia, comprising companies from the construction and building materials
sector, secured sales of RM755 million from Indonesia's building sector.
The mission from July 26-29, was jointly organised by the Malaysia External
Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the Construction Industry Development
Board (CIDB) and the Master Builders Association of Malaysia (MBAM).
Led by the then Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MATRADE, Dr Wong Lai Sum,
the mission also covered deals in Singapore and China.
"The need for Malaysian expertise in consultancy and green building
architecture was an important area of discussion during the mission.
"The track record of Malaysian companies, and reputation in delivering high
quality and reliable services for construction and infrastructure development
projects abroad, has attracted the interest of Indonesia's business community
and government agencies," MATRADE said a statement today.
It also said that the mission offered an venue for Malaysian construction
and building materials players to tap into the Indonesian market's huge
requirements for new infrastructure.
Infrastructure, power plants, water treatment services and construction
projects were also identified to be among the most promising business
opportunities in Indonesia. --Bernama
