Malaysia: No application from ExxonMobil
The Malaysian government still hasn’t received an application from Exxonobil Corp to sell its 65 per cent stake in Esso Malaysia Bhd to San Miguel Corp, International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Exxon announced Aug 18 that it planned to sell Esso Malaysia and two other units in the Southeast Asian nation to San Miguel of the Philippines for a total US$610 million.
The price represented a 29 per cent discount to Esso Malaysia’s share price at the time. Boustead Holdings Bhd said Sept 6 that it was also interested in the Malaysian refiner and retailer. -- Bloomberg
