KUALA LUMPUR: Shares of PLANTATION [] companies were among the biggest losers in afternoon trade on Monday, Oct 10, as stockpiles showed an increase in September from a month ago while exports showed a decline.

At 3.10pm, the FBM KLCI fell 6.4 points to 1,393.65. Turnover was 367.94 million shares valued at RM314.94 million. There were 197 gainers, 329 losers and 230 stocks unchanged.

KL Kepong fell the most, down 30 sen to RM20.32, United Plantations 28 sen to RM16.90, Chin Tek 20 sen to RM7.90, PPB and IOI Corp 14 sen each to RM15.80 and RM4.68 and Sime Darby 12 sen to RM8.40. However, trading volume was not very large.

According to the Malaysian Palm Oil Industry Board, the country’s September crude palm oil (CPO) production rose 12.12% to 1.869 million tonnes and stockpile rose 12.4 pct to 2.119 million tonnes while exports fell 8.8pct to 1.54 million tonnes
