Maxis unaffected by India’s probe into Maxis Comm
KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd says it is unaffected by Central Bureau of Investigation of India’s proposed probe into Maxis Communications Bhd (MCB) of Aircel Ltd, India in 2006.
Maxis Bhd said in a statement to Bursa Malaysia on Monday, Oct 10 that MCB is a significant shareholder. MCB also owns 74% of Aircel.
The telco said it issued the following media reports suggesting that the CBI had filed a filed a First Information Report (FIR), commencing formal investigations in relation to, among other things, the purchase by MCB of Aircel.
“The media is reporting that the FIR names MCB and, amongst others, Augustus Ralph Marshall, who is a director of both Maxis and MCB.
“The FIR does not have any impact on Maxis Bhd, the entity listed on Bursa Malaysia,” it said.
