Hong Kong: Higher on China policy hopes
HONG Kong and Shanghai shares closed higher yesterday, reversing earlier losses, on hopes China will loosen monetary policy as it tries to arrest a slowdown in the economy.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index adding 363.75 points to 19,733.71
Heavyweight HSBC gained 0.4 per cent to HK$67.45 due to concerns about its exposure to Europe.
Esprit, which derives the bulk of its revenue from Europe, edged up 0.2 per cent to HK$11.16. - AFP
