Taib defends family business empire in cyberspace

Here we have Abdul Taib Mahmud on Youtube trying to justify something so outright haram as somewhat halal with regards to his family's business empire, for which all sound-minded Malaysians are aware, was fuelled by his plundering of Sarawak over the past 30 years.

The other truly Malaysian dictator, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, had also once implied that his son is a billionaire out of his own business acumen, and that he as prime minister had not helped Mokhzani in any way. Believable or not?

Other renowned dictators in the Asean region - Marcos, Suharto and the Burmese junta - all have plundered their nation bone dry but on camera are ever willing to justify their actions as safeguarding national interests.

Dark Knight: The fact Taib chose to name his website 'Sarawak Reports' speaks volumes about his cunning and deceitful nature. This was done to confuse and mislead readers - that they may be deceived into logging on to his website rather than the whistleblower's site 'Sarawak Report'.

Had he been a truthful and courageous person, he would not have resorted to such manipulation and deceit. Another question that should come into the readers' minds, "Why now?" Is it because of the state election?

Onyourtoes: You know, the greatest tragedy is us, the people. We allow the same person to hold absolute power year after year. After a while, the consequence becomes fatal. Did we not see the whole Rajang river log-jammed, killing thousands of fish and causing untold environmental damage to the state?

The tragedy is we the people - the vast majority of us - can still be satisfied with a tin of Milo, some cheap biscuits and perhaps RM50 in the envelope.

Pietiring: What can we do? Either the majority of Sarawakians buy his story or he buys the majority of Sarawakians.

Christians up the ante in Bible issue

Anonymous_3e4b: I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the Catholic Church to openly denounce Taib/Umno and urge its followers to vote for the opposition. History has repeatedly shown that when push comes to shove, the Catholic Church will place the security and well-being of its institution/property/wealth first before true justice and honesty, and that it is no different from any large political/business organisation.

Zana: You want to print the Bible in Bahasa, but by all means do it using the right Bahasa. When you used the wrong Bahasa, does it not make your teaching wrong and lead your followers astray?

In Bahasa, the word 'Tuhan' is the only and correct translation for the English word 'God'. 'Allah' is a special name. Is there the word 'Allah' in the Bible? And you have translated the special word 'Bible' as 'Al Kitab' in Bahasa.

Hello, for centuries the Bahasa word for 'Bible' is 'Injil'. 'Kitab' in Bahasa means book, but when you added in 'Al', it refers to the Quran.

Myop101: Zana, don't be ignorant. 'Al Kitab' is more suitable than 'Injil' because 'Al Kitab' is a compilation of Injil, Zabur and Tawrat together with other books of the prophets and Pauline letters plus many more, making it 66 books in total.

The lesser you speak, the more you read and research and have the humility to ask what you are ignorant about will do you good, rather than screaming and shouting what you do not know.
As for Allah, it has been in use in the Middle East for ages. Why should we change it just because of some later-day fanatical adherents of a different faith demand for it?

'Allah' is Arabic for God and even the Arabs do not restrict others from using the word. There are Christians in the Middle East (in Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon) and their Bible is in Arabic. How do they address their God? 'Allah'.

Why are the Malays claiming copyright over this word when the Arabs don't?
The word 'Kitab' is used to describe the holy book in Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Azerbaijani and Swahili. Why are the Malays claiming ownership over this word?
