Strong government support for logistics-related development and foreign
investment is expected to spur the growth of the industry by 10.3 per
cent to RM129.93 billion this year as compared with an estimated RM117.8
billion last year, said Frost and Sullivan.

Malaysia's strategic
geographical location and focus on improving the supply chain would
also drive the growth of the industry, its vice president for
transportation and logistics practice, Asia Pacific, R.Gopal said.

"The
introduction of several initiatives such as the Government
Transformation Programme and the Economic Transformation Programme have
also provided a conducive business environment for the logistics
market," he said at a press conference on the outlook of the logistics
industry here today.

Gopal, who is also the country head in
Malaysia for the business research and consulting firm, said up to 2016
the logistics industry will grow at a compounded annual growth rate of
11.6 per cent to reach RM203.71 billion. - Bernama
