Cahya Mata pre-tax profit at RM179m
Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd (CMSB) has posted a higher pre-tax profit of RM179.025 million for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2011, compared with RM118.796 million in 2010.
CMSB is a conglomerate with a portfolio that spans over 40 companies
involved in cement manufacturing, construction materials, trading, construction, road maintenance, property development, financial services, education and other services.
Revenue rose to RM1.012 billion from RM943.476 million, mainly contributed
by the construction and road maintenance division from its acquisition of CMS
Roads Sdn Bhd and CMS Pavement Tech Sdn Bhd in March last year.
"Apart from the net gain on acquisition of the two subsidiaries of RM11.42
million, the higher pre-tax profit was contributed by all profitable divisions,
except for the subsidiary engaged in education, included in the others
division," the company said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia.
CMSB said the group's earnings continued to be mainly driven by the
manufacturing division, followed by the construction and road maintenance and the construction materials divisions.
"The strong financial position will enable the group to invest in new
business opportunities, especially in the Samalaju Industrial Park, Bintulu,
Sarawak," it said.
The group expects the financial year 2012 performance to continue to remain
favourable and prospects to be good. -- Bernama
