KL shares close higher
Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Malaysia trading.
Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in
Kuala Lumpur. The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Index rose 0.8 per cent to
1,575.71, the biggest advance since Feb. 29.
IRM Group Bhd rose
11 per cent to 20 sen, the steepest increase since March 6. The company
received government approval to install a solar power station in Perlis
state, it said in a statement.
Poh Huat Resources Holdings Bhd, a
furniture maker, jumped 7.8 per cent to 41.5 sen, the largest gain
since Aug. 10. Net income in the first quarter climbed to RM2.2 million
from RM654,000 a year earlier.
Sin Heng Chan (Malaya) Bhd, a
producer of animal feeds, advanced 2.7 per cent to RM1.13, the highest
close since April 2007, extending yesterday’s 37 per cent rally. The
company said it is unaware of any reason for the recent share price
surge.
YTL Corp, a utility, property and construction group, increased 3 per
cent to RM1.73, the most since March 2. YTL spent RM21.1 million buying
back 12.3 million of its own shares, according to a company statement.
