Proton to open flagship R3 accessories outlet

Proton Holdings Bhd, the national car maker, plans to open its flagship R3 (Race, Rally, Research) motorsport accessories outlet at Glenmarie 8 in Shah Alam next month.

Proton Motorsports' Engineering Head Tengku Djan Ley Tengku Mahaleel said the outlet would serve as a one-stop centre for Proton users to buy Proton accessories, merchandises and for after-sales consultations.

"The flagship outlet will be the avenue for Proton and R3 to understand customers better, which will lead to new outlet openings in future.

"Before this, R3 accessories are only sold at selected Proton showrooms, and mostly designed as a package for new Proton car buyers.

"But at this outlet, customers can pick and choose all kinds of car accessories they need," he told reporters on the sidelines of "Power of 1", a mega showcase featuring Proton's diverse facets, at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

Tengku Djan Ley said the new outlet, which will be selling accessories exclusively for Proton cars, has the capacity to increase Proton motorsports accessories business to as high as 100 per cent, given that there are a lot of untapped demand.

He said the Proton "Power of 1" event has really given the unit enough exposure to consumer sentiments in the market and their aspirations for motor accessories business.
