KL shares mixed at mid-day
Share prices on Bursa Malaysia ended morning trading mixed today with the benchmark FBM KLCI gaining 3.48 points to 1,577.08 on gains in selected heavyweights.
A dealer said sentiment remained cautious despite improving US news and a
general easing of tensions in the eurozone. "Momentum has struggled in recent days as investors try to weigh up whether stock indices can push on much more from their recent highs," he said.
The Finance Index rose 34.02 points to 14,215.32, the Plantation Index
advanced 16.08 points to 8,606.28, while the Industrial Index declined 0.94 of a
point to 2,840.16.
The FBM Emas Index improved 16.7 points to 10,868.97, the FBM 70 Index added 3.66 points to 12,125.28 but the FBM ACE Index slipped 35.35 points to 4,604.25.
Losers led gainers 382 to 245 while 333 counters were unchanged, 534
untraded and 21 others suspended. Turnover stood at 1.28 billion shares worth RM676.65 million.
Bursa Malaysia issued an unusual market activity query to Focus Dynamics whose counter rose 3.5 sen or 17.95 per cent to 23 sen with 112.9 million million traded.
IFCA MSC was flat at 12 sen, while Ariantec Global eased three sen to 10.5 sen
and Metronic Global shed one sen to 12 sen.
For heavyweights, Maybank advanced five sen to RM8.77, CIMB gained one sen
RM7.65, Sime Darby was flat at RM9.74 while Petronas Chemicals slipped four sen to RM6.70. -- Bernama
