PETALING JAYA: The FBM KLCI was higher in Thursday's midday trade, buoyed by the buying of selected bluechip stocks. At 12.30pm, the local bourse was up 0.41 points to 1,584.16.

Among the movers were Dutch Lady, British American Tobacco and Shell. Losers however outpaced gainers 388 to 197, with 318 counters unchanged.

Regional markets were mainly lower. Tokyo's Nikkei 225 fell 0.76% to 10,104.86 while Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index was down 1.20% to 20,634.33.

Shanghai's A index was down 0.58% to 2,271.60 while Taiwan's Taiex Index slipped 2.47% to 7,839.92.

Seoul's Kospi Index shed 1.07% to 2,010.08 while Singapore's Straits Times Index slipped 0.26% to 3,008.23.

Nymex crude oil lost 4 cents to US$105.37 per barrel. Spot gold fell US$3.95 to US$1,659.73 per ounce. The ringgit was quoted at 3.07 to the US dollar.
