Malaysia may hike rates again over 12 mths
Malaysia’s central bank may raise interest rates by 50 basis points to
3.5 per cent within the next 12 months as yesterday’s increase suggests
that Bank Negara Malaysia is more comfortable with the domestic growth
outlook, according to Credit Suisse Group AG.
The next rate
increase is likely to be “earlier rather than later,” analyst Kun Lung
Wu wrote in a report today. Bank Negara yesterday increased its
benchmark overnight policy rate to 3 per cent from 2.75 per cent. --
