Scomi, Ricardo inks rail driveline pact

Scomi Engineering Bhd's subsidiary, Scomi Rail Bhd has signed an agreement with United Kingdom-based Ricardo Plc, to collaborate in the development of a new driveline system.
In a joint statement by Scomi Engineering and Ricardo today, the former said Ricardo, a multi-industry consultant, has been contracted to support its driveline system's engineering activity.
Scomi Rail president Suhaimi Yaacob said the partnership will allow the company to further enhance its products to cater to the growing and changing needs of rail systems globally.
Ricardo's world-class driveline design and development capabilities will complement Scomi Rail's capabilities in the design and manufacturing of monorails, light rail vehicles and metros.
Scomi Rail, a leading provider of urban transit systems, is one of only two integrated monorail system providers in the world to offer end-to-end solutions.
