Two MRT jobs to be awarded soon
Two construction packages (V1 and V4) for the elevated portion of the Sungai Buloh-Kajang Mass Rapid Transit(MRT) line will be awarded soon.
MMC-Gamuda project management department general manager, Adil Putra Ahmad said other packages would follow suit this year.
"The packages are in the process of being tendered out or being prepared for
it.
"In the coming months we will see more packages being awarded and
contractors coming on board," he added.
Adil Putra was speaking at a media briefing here today on the Safety,
Health and Environment (SHE) Display Centre, here today.
The centre is part of MMC-Gamuda's initiative to raise the Safety, Health
and Environment standards in the MRT project.
"The RM1 million SHE Display Center is specifically for the MRT package and
is the first of its kind in Malaysia.
"It is a way for us to keep up with construction standards for future
projects, by not only explaining the requirements on paper to contractors, but
show them the level of standard that we want implemented.
"For the MRT project, we require the contractors to comply 100 per cent with
this, apart from the standard requirements conceptualised," he said.
Adil Putra also said with a proper system, work progress becomes smoother,
with less accidents on construction sites, as well as less disruption in work
progress, making construction faster.
"We are safeguarding workers, the public and those areas affected
by the MRT project," he added.
