KKB Engr posts lower Q1 pre-tax profit

KKB Engineering Bhd recorded a lower pre-tax profit of RM10.7 million for the first quarter ended March 31, 2012, compared with RM26.1 million for the corresponding period previously.
Revenue also declined to RM52.5 million from RM59.5 million previously.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, it said the weaker result came from the lower revenue contribution from its engineering sector.
"Major projects were completed last year, with a slowdown in activities of both the construction and steel fabrication division, within our engineering sector," it said.
On prospects, the group will focus on delivering a healthy performance for the 2012 financial year ending.
"We are optimistic our engineering and manufacturing sectors will contribute further in nation building, particularly, the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy and other related infrastructure projects under the Economic Transformation Programme," it added. -- Bernama
