KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 28): The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed higher, despite the mixed performance on the cash market, dealers said.

Phillip Futures Sdn Bhd Dealer Elky Liam Kian Yap said the FBM KLCI futures was expected to stay flat in the near-term, as analysts see lack of motivational factors for investors to push up the local equities market.

Meanwhile, spot month October 2013 and November 2013 rose six points to 1,820 and 1,820.5, respectively.

December 2013 added 5.5 points to 1,820.5, and March 2014 gained eight points to 1,814.

Turnover rose to 40,753 lots from 8,348 lots last Friday, while open interest increased to 84,708 contracts, from 51,988 contracts previously.

Meanwhile, the FBM KLCI finished 0.82 of a point better, at 1,818.39.
