KUALA LUMPUR (Apr 22): The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (KLCI) Futures contracts on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed higher today, tracking the performance of the underlying cash market.

Phillip Futures Sdn Bhd Dealer Tan Sek Wei said KLCI futures edged up today despite mixed Asian markets performance.

"After vacillating between gains and losses, the benchmark index ended the day 3.49 points better at 1,866.42 points due to last minute fund injections into the most weighted banking stock, Public Bank Bhd.

"Similarly, KLCI futures April 2014 was boosted all the way to its intraday high at 1,867 points after hitting its low of 1,858.5 points," he told Bernama.

April 2014 added 6.0 points to 1,867 points, May 2014 and June 2014 added 7.0 points each to 1,864.5 points and 1.860.5 points, respectively, and September 2014 appreciated 3.0 points to 1,852.5 points.

Turnover increased to 5,666 lots from Monday's 4,139 lots while open interest widened to 33,992 contracts from 31,482 contracts yesterday.

The benchmark index rose 0.18 per cent, or 3.49 points, to hit its highest level for the day at 1,866.42 after touching its low of 1,861.9 points.
