Petronas gets Niger invite for oil & gas search

Bernama wants to clarify that Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has been invited by the Republic of Niger to help the country in the exploration of new oil and gas fields.
In the story yesterday, Bernama had erroneously stated it was Nigeria.
The error is regretted.
Yesterday, Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, said Petronas was in Niger about ten years ago but failed to find new fields.
He had proposed to Niger's President, Mahamadou Issoufou, to write to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, to help get Petronas to return to the country.
He said this at a media briefing after welcoming a delegation from Niger's Parti Negerien Pour La Demogratie Et Le Socialisme. -- BERNAMA
