Berjaya Land pre-tax profit rises to RM490m (4219)
Berjaya Land Bhd (B-Land)'s pre-tax profit for the financial year ended
April 30, 2012 rose five cent to RM489.8 million from RM468.4 million
the previous year.
In an announcement to Bursa Malaysia, the property and gaming
company said its revenue increased by 4.0 per cent to RM4.2 billion
from RM4.06 million previously.
"The growth in revenue was contributed by the strong sales from the
jackpot games and the higher occupancy and room rates reported by the
hotels and resorts division," B-Land said.
For the fourth quarter ended April 30, 2012, its pre-tax profit
rose to RM177.9 million from RM105.1 million in the same quarter last
year.
Its revenue added 2.0 per cent to RM1.09 billion from RM1.06 billion previously.
The company has recommended a final dividend of one sen per
ordinary share of 50 sen each less 25 per cent income tax amounting to
about RM37.32 million.
B-Land expects its subsidiary Berjaya Sports Toto Bhd to continue
consolidating the earnings from jackpot games in the next financial year.
Its hotels and resorts business is also expected to maintain its
occupancy rates and average daily rates as well as focus on overseas
