Berjaya Land records 17pc profit hike

Berjaya Land Bhd reported its pre-tax profit for the second quarter
ended Oct 31, 2011 increased 17 per cent to RM102.5 million from RM87.9
million reported in the previous corresponding quarter.
In a statement today, the company said the increment was mainly due
to the higher profit contributed by the gaming business and also lower
finance costs.
Revenue for the period however declined to RM988.6 million from
RM1.02 billion a year ago. "The slightly lower revenue was mainly due to
the lower property sales registered by the property development
business," it said. -- Bernama
