Atlan Q1 pre-tax profit drops to RM18.9m (7048)

Atlan Holdings Bhd's pre-tax profit dropped sharply to RM18.971 million
in the first quarter ended May 31, 2012 from RM108.997 million in the
same quarter in 2011. Revenue for the quarter however increased to
RM179.745 million from RM177.292 million previously, the company said
in a filing to Bursa Malaysia
here today.
Atlan said during
the quarter, only two segments -- duty free and property and
hospitality -- recorded profits while automotive, investment holding
and other segments recorded losses.
As for property and
hospitality segment, it said the profit for the quarter amounted to
RM5.422 million compared with RM72.099 million in the same quarter in
2011 due to a one-off gain generated by Blossom Time Sdn Bhd amounting
to about RM70 million upon disposal of its land to an external party.
