APPLICATION FOR LETTER VERYFYING MARITAL STATUS

1. The applicant may submit the application at the counter of the NRD headquarters in Putrajaya or through the mail. <-- this one call the local office to confirm.
2. Supporting documents:-
i. ORIGINAL MyKad (a photocopy of MyKad if application is by post)
ii. Photocopy of passport of prospective spouse who is a non-citizen
iii. Application letter stating the purpose of the application
iv. Statutory declaration stating the applicant's current marital status. If the applicant is outside the country, then the declaration needs to be made before a Malaysian representative in that country.
v. The applicant must issue a power of attorney to delegate a lawyer/ mother/ father/next of kin to manage the search/extract, if applicable.
vi. Application letter from the lawyer, if applicable
3. Search / Extract and marriage register and document application form – Form JPN.KC09
4. Fees:-
i. Letter verifying marital status
* The fee is RM5.00.
5. The validity of the letter verifying marital status is 150 days from the date of issue

NOTE
i. The applicant must issue the power of attorney to delegate the mother/father/next of kin to manage the search/extract.
ii. The letter verifying marital status issued by the National Registration Department Headquarters in Putrajaya must be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wisma Putra in Putrajaya, Kuching or Kota Kinabalu before it can be used overseas. <-- damn mah fan!
iii. Application for the letter verifying marital status can be made only by a MALAYSIAN CITIZEN for the purpose of marriage, employment, education or official business abroad.

I remember that when I want to marry, i need to get commissional of oak to certified that I'm single. Part of requirements.

then have to do by post liao...ask travel agent whether they got contact for some marriage lawyer that provide these services so you no need to do it your self...but just pay a fee...
