Sapura Kencana awards O&G deal (5218)
SAPURA Kencana Petroleum Bhd has awarded a RM8.5 million contract for three process packages to Global Process Systems (GPS), a global provider of technology-based "design and build" process facilities solutions for the oil and gas industry.
In a statement to Business Times, GPS said the contracts are for the fuel gas conditioning, the produced water treatment and the deaerator column and vacuum pump skid for the Serendah project, located off the shores of Sarawak. The project will be executed by GPS unit in Malaysia.
The Serendah project is part of the Phase II Sarawak Gas Development project for Blocks SK309 and SK311, which are being developed by Murphy Sarawak Oil Co Ltd, a unit of US-based Murphy Oil Corp under its production sharing contract with Petronas.
GPS Malaysia director and general manager Steven Chadwick said the GPS' track record in the safe, on-time and within budget delivery of similar packages as the key factor contributing the award of contract.
"We are absolutely delighted that Sapura Kencana has selected us to perform this work for major end user, Murphy Oil," he said.
Sapura Kencana Petroleum was born following the merger between SapuraCrest Petroleum Bhd and Kencana Petroleum Bhd, which was listed on Bursa Malaysia on May 17 this year.
Prior to the merger, Kencana Petroleum, through its subsidiary Kencana HL, won an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract worth between RM460 million and RM474 million from Murphy Sarawak for the fabrication of offshore topsides.
Chadwick said in the contract, GPS' scope of work include the supply of the three skid packages of all engineering design, mechanical completeness and electrical and instrumentation hook-up.
"GPS will also handle the delivery to the Sapura Kencana site as well as on-site supervision of installation of the skid packages at Sapura Kencana's facility," he said.
