KIMB gets Digital Franking System license

KUALA LUMPUR: Kurnia Insurans (Malaysia) Bhd (KIMB)is the pioneer
company in Malaysia to obtain the System User Licence from the
InlandRevenue Board (IRB) for use of the Digital Franking System (DFS).


KIMB proposes to use the DFS to stamp the Foreign Workers Insurance Guarantee.


"This effective and efficient technology enables us to provide
immediate, convenient and secured services to our customers and
agents," said its Chief Executive Officer/Director, Wong Kim Teck, in a
statement today.

"With the franking machines, our agents no longer need to pay
runners to send the documents for stamping. This will save waiting time
at crowded IRB offices, and the travelling costs involved," he added.






KIMB has installed the DFS at 15 offices of agents in the Klang Valley for faster document processing while ensuring security.


The general insurer spent a total of RM300,000 on the franking machines, including installation and initial maintenance costs.


It plans to continue the initiative and reach out to other similar agents through a nationwide expansion of the system.


"The IRB has always strived to improve its public service delivery
system," IRB's Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Tax Operation, Datuk
Mohammad Sait Ahmad said.


"With the DFS, stamping can be expedited, transactions made easier
and more secure. The authentication of the impressed stamp is assured
since stamping is done in-house," he added.


The DFS which was implemented nationwide on June 30 last year, was
introduced as an additional mode of stamping, besides the Stamp
Assessment and Payment System (STAMPS), and Revenue Stamp. -- BERNAMA
