Stock Watch: CIMB group's shares soar after positive earnings result

KUALA LUMPUR (May 22):CIMB Group Holdings' shares gained
sharply following yesterday's announcement of a strong financial
performance.
The group's pre-tax profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013,
rose to RM1.72 billion from RM1.33 billion in the same period last year.
Revenue increased to RM3.95 billion from RM3.26 billion last year.
CIMB Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Nazir Razak said on the
operational side, the bank had a decent start this year, with steady
growth across most business segments.
As at 11.35 am, the group advanced 14 sen to RM8.64, with 4.2 million
shares transacted and was one of the major gainers. -- BERNAMA
