KUALA LUMPUR (May 22): The Malaysian American Electronics
Industry (MAEI) projects a 3-4% rise in electrical and electronic (E&E)
exports from Malaysia this year.
MAEI expects the export value for this year to total RM49 billion, which
also includes RM30 billion in semiconductor export.
At a press conference after the release of its annual survey for 2012,
MAEI’s chairman Datuk Wong Siew Hai said that the 3% to 4%
projected growth is based on the feedback from 20 MAEI members.
“The percentage comes from the views of the 20 companies under
MAEI, which sees the trend in world market and also factory orders of
the electrical & electronics (E&E) components,” Wong added.
Most of MAEI’s members are leading electronic companies from the
US.
